In response to a comprehensive brief set out by Ecole Francaise Muscate; The proposal put forward by 23 Degrees North for a new French School in Muscat was announced as the competition winner in November 2012. 23 Degrees North were thrilled to be described by the board of judges as “…honest, capable and enthusiastic.” The project explores the concept of a community of educational pavilions nestled beneath an over-sailing shaded roof structure and creates a welcoming, stimulating and educational environment for pre-school, elementary and secondary school children within a well structured site strategy. Taking the project forward, the Client’s budgetary restraints were accepted more as challenges to be met rather than limitations to be opposed and working with the Client, 23 Degrees North were happy to reach a successful completion in time for the September opening of the school in 2015.
